Last week saw a number of key events at the core of the UK Payments Industry:
– The launch of Payments UK; the Trade Association that has replaced the UK Payments Council.
– A key-note speech by the MD of the Payment Systems Regulator (Hannah Nixon) on Innovation at the Payment UK annual Payment Innovations conference.
– The Payment Systems Regulator also published the final terms of reference for its market review into the ownership and competitiveness of payment infrastructure provision. This is focussing on the core infrastructure under-pinning parts of the UK retail payment systems such as Bacs and Faster Payments;
